Hello kind reader! Welcome to Progress City Theme Parks. I was assigned to start this blog for a high school media class, but I have wanted to start it for a while now, I have just never gotten around to it. This media assignment was the perfect motivation to get me moving.
On this blog, I plan to discuss many different theme parks. Each post will focus on one park, and will contain a brief reflection on the theme, mission, and history of the park, a personal review of the park, and some of my ideas on how the park could be improved and expanded. For the media class, I am only assigned to make seven posts, one every Monday, but I might continue to update it into the Summer. I definitely want to at least review Pandora: the World of Avatar and Volcano Bay when they open to the public in late May. I will only talk about parks I have visited in person to make sure my reviews are fair and unbiased. The parks I mainly want to write about include all of the Disney, Universal, and Busch Gardens/Sea World parks in Florida, all of which I frequent.
I named this blog Progress City Theme Parks after Progress City, also known as E.P.C.O.T. No, not the Epcot that exists today, but Walt Disney’s original idea for an Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow, a place where efficient theme park design and planning could be applied to a functional city of the future. I am a firm believer in the idea that E.P.C.O.T. could have solved many problems faced daily by America’s middle class and changed the world forever, but the Epcot Center that was created used to be a great source of inspiration. Now Epcot is a bit of a thematic mess, but I’ll write more that in my Epcot post (which I’m really excited for, by the way).
So, I hope you’ll continue to visit my blog in the coming weeks, and I hope you’ll enjoy my future content! See ya real soon!
